SOC 2 compliance IT support means getting your systems, security controls and evidence ready for a SOC 2 audit by a licensed CPA firm, then keeping them running so you pass year after year. NVITS does this work for Reno and Northern Nevada companies that need a SOC 2 report to win and keep customers.
We find the gaps between your current IT and the AICPA Trust Services Criteria, fix them, and manage the controls day to day: access, MFA, endpoint security, patching, backups, logging and vendor reviews. When your auditor asks for proof, it’s already organized.
Your customers’ security questionnaires keep getting longer. We help you answer them with evidence instead of promises.

It usually starts with a security questionnaire or a contract clause: “Please provide your most recent SOC 2 Type 2 report.” Without one, deals stall or go to a competitor that has one. The hard part isn’t the paperwork. It’s proving to an independent auditor that your IT controls are designed correctly and actually work every day. Missing MFA, unreviewed user access, untested backups and scattered evidence are the gaps that delay audits most often.
We handle the IT side of SOC 2 from start to finish. First, we assess where you stand against the Trust Services Criteria you need. Then we close the gaps and set up the controls. Finally, we run those controls and collect the evidence through your audit period, so your Type 1 or Type 2 audit goes smoothly. We work alongside your CPA firm, not in place of it, which keeps your audit independent.

My wife and I own Alta Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Reno. This is a large healthcare facility, approximately 65,000 sq feet with more than 100 employees. The team at Nevada IT solutions has been integral in improving our IT infrastructure. This includes some common IT tasks such as establishing a server, firewall, and user interfaces. However, it also includes assisting with 3rd party vendors in negotiating a fiber connection, wiring the building for more access, bidding out security cameras, and managing a complicated telephone system. I highly recommend them. They have minimized our monthly service fees and up-front capital costs. However, they have also been direct when it comes to explaining why purchasing a higher-end product is produced in the long term. Please feel free to ask if you would like to speak to me directly for a reference and are a large employer.
SOC 2 is an attestation framework from the AICPA that shows how a service organization protects customer data. A licensed CPA firm examines your controls against the Trust Services Criteria: security, availability, processing integrity, confidentiality and privacy. Security is required in every SOC 2 report. The other four are added when your customers need them.
No. Only a licensed CPA firm can issue a SOC 2 report. NVITS prepares your IT environment for the audit: we find the gaps, put the technical controls in place, run them day to day and collect the evidence your auditor will ask for. That keeps your audit independent and credible.
A Type 1 report checks whether your controls are designed correctly on a single date. A Type 2 report checks whether those controls actually worked over a period of time, usually several months. Many companies start with Type 1 to meet a deadline, then move to Type 2, which most enterprise customers expect.
Most companies need six months to a year from the first readiness assessment to a Type 2 report. The timeline depends on how many controls are already in place, the Trust Services Criteria you choose and the length of the observation period your auditor sets.
No. SOC 2 isn’t a law or a government requirement. Companies get a SOC 2 report because customers, partners and enterprise buyers ask for one in contracts and security questionnaires. For many B2B and SaaS companies, it decides whether they win the deal.
SOC 2 doesn’t give a fixed checklist, but auditors expect common controls: multi-factor authentication, role-based access and quick offboarding, endpoint protection, patching, encryption, logging and monitoring, tested backups, vendor reviews, security awareness training and a written incident response plan.
Costs depend on your size and scope. NVITS managed IT and compliance support starts at $55 per user per month, and readiness assessments and project work are quoted after a short scoping call. The CPA firm’s audit fee is separate and paid directly to the auditor.
Yes. Many SOC 2 controls, like MFA, encryption, access reviews, backups and incident response, are the same ones HIPAA, NIST frameworks and cyber insurance applications ask about. We map your controls once so the same work and evidence support several requirements.
We're based in Northern Nevada and work face to face with your team. You get one local team that knows your systems, not a remote compliance platform and a ticket queue.
Many consultants hand you a gap report and leave. As your managed IT and cybersecurity provider, we put the controls in place and operate them every day, which is what a Type 2 audit tests.
Access reviews, patch records, backup tests, training records and incident logs are collected as we work, so audit fieldwork doesn't turn into a scramble.
We prepare you for the audit, and a licensed CPA firm performs it. Keeping those roles separate protects the credibility of your SOC 2 report with customers.
The same controls support HIPAA, NIST frameworks, CMMC and cyber insurance questionnaires. We map them once so you don't pay for the same work twice.
Managed IT and compliance support starts at $55 per user per month. Readiness assessments and project work are quoted up front after a short scoping call, with no surprise fees.
Find out how close you are to passing a SOC 2 audit. Book a SOC 2 readiness assessment, and we'll review your controls against the Trust Services Criteria, then give you a clear, prioritized plan and timeline. Want the full process first? Read our guide: How to Get SOC 2 Compliance.
